Story:
Queens, NY (2/22/2010) - Four members of a Queens family were killed Monday in what investigators say appears to be a murder suicide.

A murder suicide is when a person kills someone and then kills himself. The police think that the father killed his family and then killed himself.

A relative called police after he could not get in touch with the family.

The father, whose name is Mark Bailey, 40, was later found with a gunshot wound to the head and a rifle at his feet inside the family's Springfield Gardens home.

According to sources, his wife Dionne Bailey, 42, and his daughters, Yanique Bailey, 19, and Yolanne Bailey, 14, were discovered in separate bedrooms, all with gunshot wounds to the head.

A note of apology was found on the kitchen table, sources say.

"The sad thing about all of this is the fact that someone reaches the point in their life where they would think in terms of taking the life of their life and their two teenage daughters," said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown. "It's just incomprehensible to me that something like this would occur."

Brown says Bailey was a school bus driver based in Nassau County. His wife was an assistant principal at A. Philip Randolph High School in Manhattan. And, the youngest daughter was a student at Cardozo High School in Queens.

NY1 has been told that grief counselors have been sent to both schools.

The oldest daughter was a college student.
